Sarah and Laura have been dear friends and trusted colleagues for over 20 years. Their passion for providing compassionate, direct, skilled case management for elders has brought them together again.

Laura Silverstein is from Seattle, and has raised two sons in Ballard. She has long had a three-generation home, with her husband, children, and mother. Having Nana there, helping raise the children, has been one of her great joys in life.

After receiving her MSW from the University of Washington, she had a career in the administration of nonprofits. In 2018 an uncle in New York fell ill. In trying to coordinate his care from across the country, she learned how essential it was to have a case manager on the ground there. Without that person, her uncle would not have had the support he desperately needed. She decided to change direction and work supporting elders herself.

After getting a Certificate of Gerontology from the UW in 2020, she worked as a social worker in a skilled-nursing facility. Since then she has been doing case management. She loves getting to know seniors and families, and helping them take steps into their next phase of life.

Outside of work Laura likes making her own clothes, firing ceramics in her garage kiln, cooking with her children when they are home, and spending time deep in the back woods of Canada.

Sarah Schieron lives in West Seattle where she is raising two teenage sons. She has always held a deep respect for older adults and is grateful to the elders in her life for their wisdom and support.

She studied biology and gerontology at Santa Clara University, intending to work with older adults. Life took her in a different direction, and she spent over 20 years as a fundraiser in education and housing nonprofits.

Her path came full circle after the loss of her husband to glioblastoma nearly a decade ago. Supporting him—and later, other aging loved ones in both families—led her to realize how much she values helping others through health and life transitions. That realization ultimately led her to becoming a case manager in 2024.

She sees aging and death as sacred parts of life’s continuum and feels honored to walk beside others on that journey.

Sarah loves swimming, black licorice, walks, the color blue, autumn, rocks, traveling, and things that sparkle!
